Billiard Supplies
Billiard supplies are few, but they are very useful and regularly used. One of the most common supplies is chalk. Chalk is used on the tip of the cue and also on the surface of the hand but for different purposes. On the tip of the cue it increases the friction between the tip and the ball allowing for accurate shots and even spin. Chalk for hands is used to allow the cue to slide better along the surface of the stabilizing hand.
Other billiard supplies include replacement leather tips. The leather slowly wears out from sanding and striking the balls slowly losing its hold. They are cheap and easy to replace but require a little bit of work to get them sanded correctly and evenly to accept chalk. These can extend the life of a pool cue many years.
One of the most popular billiard supplies is not even a part of the game at all, but is never found very far away from a pool table. Beer and alcohol are some of the most popular refreshments for playing pool. Many players feel they don’t play well until they get a few drinks into them, and it may have a loosening effect which is good for pool, but it can get out of hand as well. The pool cue is one of the most popular weapons in a bar fight, second only to a bar stool.
